The temple was built during the 11th century by the Paramara Dynasty, rulers of central India. The temple has amazing blend of Indian and Dravidian architecture. The walls of the temple are carved out of the igneous rocks and beautiful sculptures are found attached to both inner and outer wall. The temple has an amazing tower with miniature spines facing outside in all four directions. Inside the temple, Huge Shiva lingam is accompanied with a bull shaped sculpture. The temple has a little water spring inside the premise that adds to the beauty of the temple. The holy shrine observes the influx of huge number of devotees during Maha Shivratri. The premise of the temple is surrounded by several flowing plants that enhance the beauty of the shrine. One can find the ruins of the temple is scattered all around the premises alongwith Sanskrit inscribed on the broken pieces that are quite visible and testifies to the greatness of the temple.

How to reach Shiva Temple ?
The temple is located around 12 km away from the main city. Visitors may reach the temple via road from the city. Visitors coming from outside the city can travel by rail and arrive at Ratlam railway station. Outside the station there are several buses and private vehicles like autos and tempos ready to take you to desired destination.
