Plan a Day Out at Kharmour Wildlife Sanctuary

Sightseeing in RatlamFor wild life and nature lovers, Kharmour Sanctuary is like a paradise in Ratlam. This sanctuary is situated in Sailana village in Ratlam district. The sanctuary is spread over 13 sq km. The sanctuary was founded in the year 1983 and was named after a rare bird species called ‘Kharmour’. This sanctuary is the best place to see variety of migratory birds that travels to the region during their breeding season. The region is covered by dense Sal and Teak forest with humid climatic conditions. Here you can also find the wild animals like deer, rabbit, wild boars etc. The period between July to September is the best time to visit the sanctuary. The avian population visiting the sanctuary includes indigenous and exotic birds. The sanctuary remains open for the tourist 6 to 10:30AM in the morning and 3 to 6 PM in the evening. The sanctuary provides you a thrilling experience of wild avian life which one can cherish forever.

Veerupaksh Mahadev Temple, Bilpauk

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built in 11th century A.D. The temple is in well maintained situation with three different sections facing towards east.

Shiva Temple

Shiva temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and located almost 12 km away from the center of the city. Apart from being a religious place the temple vicinity is surrounded by lush green trees and several waterfalls. The temple is a blend of Rajputana and Bhumija style dated back to Parmara period in 11th century A.D. The temple is not in a good condition thus sculptures can be seen lying on floor. The government of Madhya Pradesh is working toward the conservation of such historic monument.

Kedareshwar Temple

In Sailana village near Ratlam, the temple dedicated to lord Shiva is popularly known as Kedareshwar temple. The idol of Shiva called “Shiva Lingam” is located at the center of temple shaped man made cave. The cave is carved out from a huge igneous rock. The waterfalls near the cave supplies continuous water inside the cave. During the monsoon season the beauty of the temples doubles.
